This week we caught up with fashion stylist Ante Burin to talk Dennis Bergkamp and Melbourne Knights FC.
Hey Ante! Firstly could you tell us a bit about yourself?
Hey Guys, I currently work as a fashion stylist in the sporting sector within Melbourne, along with working for Melissa Nixon, who is a Melbourne based Fashion Stylist currently the AHFA (Australian Hair Fashion Awards) Stylist of the year.
My dad worked as the President, Team Manager & Treasurer of the Melbourne Croatia SC (now Melbourne Knights FC) & Victoria Soccer Federation life member for 40 years. So my involvement with the Knights came from my fathers passing which resulting in me being team manager for 5 years in total managing player signings, admin of the team, communication between coaching staff, and working closely with Aljoša Asanović.
How did you first get involved with football?
I first got involved when I played at a young age, travelling overseas my parents bought me my first kit the 95/96 Arsenal kit. Even since i have loved watching Arsenal along with my team Melbourne Knights FC.
I was able to design Melbourne Croatia SC's 65 year anniversary kit with Umbro AU which showcased the culture within Australian football along with the rich history of a club like Melbourne Croatia who has been oppressed by racism within football in Australia from the FFA.
I really love clothing, patterns, fabric, colours so seeing what the world has to showcase through Soccerbible, Classic Football Shirts, cult kits and in Australia Vintage Soccer Shirts who are broadening the football shirt culture. I love working with like minded people in the industry, so getting to work closely with Aleksandar Jason is always a blessing.
Which Kit have you chosen for your MY KIT?
Arsenal Away 95/96 Bergkamp on the back.
What is it about this kit that connects with you?
My parents bought me this kit when I was 8 years old. I'm a real fan of all of Drake Ramberg's work for Nike.
Which players are most synonymous with this kit for you?
Favourite Memory of the kit?
I think as a fan, I remember moments of greatness from Dennis in this year, it made you wonder what was to come from him in the future.
